Q&A: I want to upgrade my gps for geocaching?

These are useful and collceted by googps!

I want to upgrade my gps for geocaching?i have an garmin etrex legend, and i want something a little more reliable and tough. for example, i lose signal when a few branches get in the way of the sky and the gps take a few seconds to update my position. i was wondering what i could buy to make these problems go away.

Are you happy with the form factor of the Legend? If so, the natural upgrade is the Legend HCx. Unlike the original black and white model, this one has excellent reception so it'll keep a lock in the woods. There is little to no lag under most conditions. It's the same size as yours, so any investement in cases, cradles, mounts, etc. is preserved.

It's also a color screen and uses a USB interface.

Compare it with other members of that family at http://www.gpsfaqs.org/faqs/garmin/xseries/glegendhcx/models.html
