Few question about GPS technology?1) How GPS satellite transmit signal to GPS receiver? Does it need any satellite dishes?

1. The GPS satellite uses a phased-array antenna composed of 12 elements. The antenna is clearly visible in this picture: < http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Global_Positioning_System_satellite.jpg >.

2. The satellites transmit in the L-band, at the L1 frequency (1575.42 MHz) and other frequencies.

3. It's quite effective. For a normal consumer receiver, measured positions are usually within 15 meters.
