Tom Tom is user friendly

Garmin has the best quality maps and routing, that's why it costs way more than the no name ones. There are also yearly map updates (although they do cost a pretty penny, better than NO updates from the no name companies).

Ensure the screen is large enough for your fingers, I find some of the smaller ones too small to punch in the addresses.

BTW, NEVER LEAVE THE MOUNT VISIBLE in your car, someone will break into your car.

In theory, driving from point A to point B shouldn't be such a difficult task, but sometimes you miss exits, and sometimes you're just plain lost. Do yourself a favor and get a little roadside assistance from an in-car GPS device. If you've been reluctant to invest in these navigation gadgets because they're too complex or expensive, don't be. These five systems are easy to use right out of the box and affordable, but more important, they provide text and voice-guided directions, automatic route recalculation (in case you veer off course), and a healthy points-of-interest database. See if one is right for you.

I have heard that tom tom is very user friendly but I must say that I bought my wife a Garmin street pilot a few months back and it has been one of the best little machines for us. We have used it on vacation and long driving trips and it has been great. The only thing is that you have to purchase a larger memory card than what comes standard with the unit to incorporate more state maps. so far we haven't done this because we just upload additional maps as needed from our laptop while we are traveling.
